Hump Day!!!!

Good Wednesday Morning!!!

Somehow, my Tuesday has turned into a Thursday from a self-medicating standpoint. Gary and I enjoyed two delicious bottles of wine last night. That's normally what I do on Thursdays to celebrate Friday's impending arrival. Gary is moving a little slow this morning. I got up at 5:40 am and had Paige to school with minutes to spare. Impressive.....

If you are in Ellis Co. this weekend, come out to the Ellis Co. Expo Center in Waxahachie on Saturday for St. Joseph's annual Oktoberfest. This is our school's main fundraiser and it will be going on from 10 am -8 pm. There are tons of things for the kids to do, a biergarten, live and silent auctions and lots of food. It's a great way to support not only St. Joseph, but the community as well. And...you'll help keep Paige's tuition low :)

Sunday is the State Fair Chili Cook Off held, where else, but at the State Fair in Fair Park. It's being held the weekend before the Fair officially opens, but all entrants will receive a ticket to the Fair and a parking pass. I hope that I can sit down with someone Sunday and talk to them about moving the cook off back to the opening weekend. It makes such a difference in attendance and it would be a win-win situation. More cooks would come out and the Fair would make more money from the chili cooks going into the Fair. This cook off is very dear to Dr. Ray, so if you want to support Dr. Ray, cook chili and get some points, come out and join us!

My goat farm is slowly taking shape. Gary is going to put up a fence next week. We are also putting up a gate at the front of our drive. We've had some nosy people and unwanted visitors up at our house recently and I'd like to nip that in the bud. We will need to get some really good brush control goats and a few that are good for cheese - namely Nubians. We also need to finish our covered area for the additional slab Gary had poured when the house was built. I eventually want to put an outdoor fireplace at the edge of the slab. This is also going to be a good spot for the kids to do their Halloween crafts at the shindig next month.
